Lunch attracts more volunteers
Friday, 13th September 2002.
NEW recruits were signed up by two Haverhill groups this week after a special lunch to encourage more volunteers to join them.
Haverhill Volunteer Centre and the Citizens Advice Bureau joined forces to host the event at the Burton Centre in Camps Road.
Elaine Hewes, Volunteer Centre co-ordinator, said the event had been quite well attended, with two new volunteers signed up immediately and others showing an interest.
"It went very well and we were quite pleased," she said.
"There are a lot of new people moving into Haverhill who won't know we are here unless we tell them. We are hoping to hold one every six months in future."
Anyone who was unable to attend the lunch, but would like more information about becoming a volunteer or a CAB adviser should call into the Volunteer Centre at 6b High Street, Haverhill, or ring (0140) 708444.
