Local produce initiative within town's market
Thursday, 3rd April 2014.
Suffolk beer, cheese, cured meats and other local food will tempt shoppers on Haverhill market on Saturday, April 26.
The regular weekend event will take on the feel of a farmers’ market when local producers showcase their delicacies.
Cllr Anne Gower, St Edmundsbury Borough Council cabinet member with responsibility for Haverhill, said: “Markets give customers the opportunity to buy local produce from local growers. They are the ideal way for people to buy that produce knowing it’s the closest thing to home-grown.
“Shopping at our local markets is a chance to ask questions about what you’re buying and possibly even getting to taste a sample of something you haven’t tried before.
"It is vital we support our local food producers and our local markets so that we can make informed choices about value and quality.”
Local producers who would like more details of how to have a stall on Haverhill or any of the other markets in West Suffolk should contact market development officer Sharon Fairweather on 01284 757093.
