Little Katie is pride of the town
Thursday, 19th August 1999.
LITTLE Katie Drane proved she was the bonniest baby when she was crowned as Haverhill's representative in a national beauty competition.
Boots the Chemist launched a campaign to find its own Millennium baby. Hundreds of toddlers were entered into the competition from the 1,300 stores across the country, along with those from Haverhill.
One-year-old Katie was entered into the competition by her mum, Nicola, of Downs Crescent, Haverhill. Each entry included a donation towards the Tommy Appeal, which assists research into miscarriages and premature babies.
Little Katie helped pick out her prize using her £10 winnings.
Now Katie's photograph will be sent to Nottingham for the regional final.
If she is picked as the prettiest tot, she will be among six to attend a special ceremony in London later in the year.
