Limit placed on school numbers
Thursday, 15th July 1999.
PLANNING consent has been granted for extensions to an independent primary school on condition that its roll does not exceed 350 pupils
Members of St Edmundsbury Borough Council gave approval for the extensions, parts of which have already been built, at Barnardiston Hall Preparatory School.
A site inspection was held after neighbours raised concerns about work being undertaken.
Councilors were told the highway authority had recommended that conditions relating to visibility and circulation within the site be attached to any permission.
There was also concern about the capacity of the local road system and an agreement limiting pupil numbers was suggested.
The school agreed the figure and said it exceeded requirements.
