Library service to get helping hand
Thursday, 6th June 2002.
Conservative MP Richard Spring
The service which for many people is a lifeline is run from Haverhill Library with volunteers from Haverhill.
Elaine Hewes, centre manager for the Haverhill Volunteer Centre asked Mr Spring to help support the project. He will spend a few hours selecting books for the elderly, which are delivered to their doors.
Mr Spring said: “I greatly admire the dedication and energy of the centre’s staff and volunteers who provide so many support services for people in Haverhill.
“The Home Library Service is an excellent idea. It means elderly people can continue reading a range of material even if they are unable to get to the library. “
Anyone is welcome to come along to the library on Friday to hear more about the Volunteer Centre and pledge some help.
The Home Library service is run by the Volunteer centre, with their expenses picked up by Suffolk County Council.
