Leisure centre takes classes outdoors
Monday, 11th July 2011.
A new six-week programme of free outdoor Zumba and spinning classes will take place in Haverhill’s new plaza over the summer.
Haverhill Leisure Centre is taking its hugely popular classes outdoors to encourage people to try them and take more exercise outside in the fresh air.
The classes will run every Thursday for six weeks, weather permitting, starting on Thursday, July 28. Zumba will be a turn-up-and-try session starting at 6pm followed by spinning at 7.20pm. Places for spinning are limited because of the number of bikes, so booking is essential.
Zumba Fitness® is the Latin-inspired dance-fitness programme that blends international music, created by Grammy Award-winning producers, and dance steps to form a fun workout.
The centre’s Zumba classes have been so popular with 130 people attending each week that it has put on a fifth class this month.
Spinning is the indoor cycling workout where you ride to the rhythm of powerful music. Participants take on the terrain with an inspiring team coach who leads the pack through hills, flats, mountain peaks, time trials, and interval training.
Mandy Felton, assistant fitness manager, said: “Zumba and spinning are our most popular classes at Haverhill Leisure Centre and we want people to come along and see what they are missing out on.
“You’ll get a great free workout in the fresh air with our experienced and passionate instructors.”
