Leisure centre goes Halloween crazy

There’s some ghoulish goings on at Haverhill Leisure Centre this half term as youngsters get the chance to make their own Guy Fawkes, learn how to carve pumpkins and enjoy a Halloween party.

On Tuesday, October 26, children will get the chance to carve their own pumpkin from 10am to 12noon and 2pm to 4pm.

On Wednesday, October 27, from 1pm to 3pm they can have a go at making their own Guy Fawkes for bonfire night.

Children can go along dressed as their favourite Halloween character for a special coffee morning on Friday, October 29, from 10am to 12 noon.

A special laser blast for Halloween takes place from 6pm to 6.45pm and 7pm to 7.45pm and 8pm to 8.45pm on Friday, October 29, as youngsters battle it in a game of laser tag navigating their way around a darkened spooky room.

Witches, wizards and ghosts are welcome to join in the spooky Halloween party fun with party games, dancing and prizes to be won from 4pm to 6pm on Friday, October 29, and from 8pm there will be a live Halloween band night which is free to members, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Plus there will be the popular school holiday activities Fur and Feathers, dance mats session and cool as cucumbers activity camp.

Michelle Banfield-Curran, Abbeycroft Leisure’s sports development officer, said: “Halloween seems to be getting bigger each year in the UK and so this year we have gone Halloween crazy with more activities for the young witch, wizard and ghost.”

There will also be a chance for youngsters aged five to 14 to take part in a free Whatever The Weather session at Castle Playing Fields on Friday, October 29, from 10am to 12 noon. The multisport session includes football, rounders, and kwik cricket.
