Leisure centre gears up for half-term activities
Thursday, 14th February 2013.
Raft building, cycling, film afternoons and crafts are just some of the activities at Haverhill Leisure Centre this half term.
Children aged eight and over will get the chance to build a raft with pieces of equipment and race against each other in the pool next Thursday while British Cycling coach Mark Wyer will be leading a session full of obstacles and team pursuits on Monday.
The centre’s popular holiday camps will also be running with the addition of film afternoons and arts & crafts.
Also, there’s athletics, cycling, swimming, team sports, football, basketball, racket sports, laser blast, squash, and tennis on offer to keep youngsters entertained.
The holiday camps for children aged eight and over will take place every day from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Children can take part in the camps for a morning or afternoon, a whole day or even the whole week.
There are lots of different activities to choose from each day and a range of indoor activities for adverse weather conditions.
Amelia Epton, Abbeycroft’s children and young people programme manager, said: “This year we have introduced film afternoons and arts and crafts to our popular holiday programme for eight-year-olds and over.
"We are also exploring the possibility of running camps specifically for children aged six to seven and we would love to hear from parents whether this is something they would like at the centre.”
The holiday camps cost £5 for a morning or afternoon session. For the whole day it costs £9.99 per child, add on lunch for £12.49 and £48 for the week, £60.50 including lunch. Parents need to provide lunch and swimwear.
Parents can take advantage of an early drop off at 8.30am or late pick up at 5.30pm for an extra £2.50 per child, booked in advance.
Bookings must be made in advance at the Leisure Centre or by calling 01440 702548. Visit Abbeycroft’s website for more information at www.acleisure.com
