Ladies march on in golf tournament

It was great news for Haverhill lady golfers, who won their second round Mail on Sunday match away at Flempton on Saturday.
It was the icing on the cake for Sue Carr, celebrating her first hole in one on the 14th hole, a 120-yard par three, using a five iron.
After a very closely fought contest, Haverhill Ladies seized the victory 3-2.
The full results were as follows: Mary Sail won 4 & 3 against Suzanne Mason, Sue Carr lost 1 down to Jillian Jacobs, Eileen Kiddy won 1 up against Lyne Quale, Pat Kennedy won 6 & 4 against Carole Kidd and Jackie Condon lost 1 down to Hermione Scope.
The Ladies Saturday Medal was played on Saturday and Gerrie Wheatley was the clear winner with a score of 104-28-76. In second place was Karen Wilby with 96-16-80, and third Heather Eldred with 103-21-82.
There was a good turnout for the men’s Sunday Medal, played on March 7. The overall winner was Mark Firmin with a fantastic round of 78-15-63.
The full results are as follows: Division One, 1 Michael Goldsmith 81-11-70; 2 Robert Rudge 81-11-70; 3 Gerry Scott 77-6-71.
Division Two, 1 Mark Firmin 78-15-63; 2 David Roope 85-16-69; 3 Simon Price 87-17-70.
Division Three, 1 David Chapman 94-25-69; 2 Mark Wray 93-24i-69; 3 Paul Meeks 93-22-71.
