Kids blasted for night of shame
Thursday, 8th November 2001.
THE police have blasted youngsters who turned Halloween into a night of shame.
Suffolk officers received more than 100 calls form angry and distressed residents complaining about damage being caused to property and eggs being thrown at houses, vehicles and windows.
Others related to youngsters being assaulted by people who did not like their activities.
A police spokesman said: “It’s a shame and the fun element of Halloween has been overshadowed by behaviour which can only be described as plain nastiness.”
Cambridgeshire and Essex forces reported relatively few Halloween related incidents.
Egg throwing was again the main source of calls but the number was nit as high as in recent years.
