Haverhill Shotokan Karate Club enjoyed excellent fortunes when they travelled to take part in the K.U.G.B. Central Region Championships held recently in Chesterfield.
It proved to be a good day for the Haverhill squad in both Junior and Senior events.
John Christie reached the last 16 of the Male Individual Kumite before going out to the eventual runners-up.
Christopher Eaton reached the last eight of the boys’ under 12 Ippon Kumite.
In the Junior Team Kata event, the team of Carne Wilsher, Andrew King and LeeMcCormack missed the final by 0.2 and did brilliantly to finish fifth.
Andrew King also reached the Junior Individual Kata final four and gained a respectable third place.
The Haverhill Club finished 11th out of the 49 clubs that entered the competition.
The Club are now looking forward to the National Championship in May, The Essex Trophy in June and the National Junior Championship in July.
