Karate club helps women and girls defend themselves
Monday, 14th February 2011.
A Haverhill karate club is offering a special new self-defence course for females.
Greg Malyon of Haverhill Wado Freestyle Karate Club said: "Unfortunately in today’s society violent crime has become a daily occurrence. We read or hear about it in the news every day. Most people would not know what to do if they found themselves being attacked.
"If you are thinking the same – 'I couldn’t do anything', yes you can! Just come and give it a go. You will be surprised how easy and effective it can be.
"You will be shown techniques that are not only easy to apply, but also easy to remember, and by coaches who have over 20 years' experience."
The club maintains you do not have to be fit, strong or flexible, or nneed to have martial arts experience, but you can just go along and give it a go, and the first-two hour session is completely free.
Places are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Classes start on Monday, February 21, 7.30-9.30pm (free).
Then they are on Mondays from February 28, 7.30-8.30pm, all at Haverhill Leisure Centre
You pay as you go at £4.95 per session or pay for six sessions at £27.
