Friday, 19th October 2007.
Haverhill's Jubilee Walk is now open and that's official...
The £460,000 project to carry out enhancements to Jubilee Walk in Haverhill was officially opened on Monday 15th October at 11.30 am.
Cllr John Griffiths, leader of St Edmundsbury Borough Council, unveiled a plaque marking the scheme’s completion. Guests were then invited to the Arts Centre where drinks and an ‘Owen the cat’ cake was be served.
The project has been designed to improve a key gateway from the bus station into the town centre. As part of the work, Jubilee Walk has been repaved and replanted, the car park has been resurfaced and handrails and a granite seat installed. The scheme also includes a sculpture to Owen, who used to live in the area and was popular with residents.
