It's time to bring the Golden Age of Haverhill together
Tuesday, 11th September 2012.
ONE Haverhill is urging people in the town to find out more about what organisations and services can offer older people at a free event at Haverhill Arts Centre.
The Golden Age Network Event, run by ONE Haverhill and sponsored by Haverhill Town Council, will feature a range of stalls from different organisations offering advice and information on a range of topics including health, falls prevention, security, fires, social activities, housing and charities able to help.
The event takes place on Wednesday, September 26, from 10am to 4pm. Refreshments will be available.
Organisations exhibiting include Age Concern, Suffolk Police, Suffolk Fire & Rescue, Suffolk Circle, Havebury Housing, Red Cross, Royal British Legion, Suffolk Health, Pension Service, among others.
Anne Gower, chairman of ONE Haverhill board, said: “An event similar to this was run in the town previously and the feedback we got was very positive so under the One Haverhill Board we decided to do it again and rebrand it as the Golden Age Fair.
“As Chair of the Older People’s Forum I am concerned about older residents in Haverhill who may be isolated and need help or advice – not everyone is fortunate enough to have a circle of friend or close family to turn to.
"These residents can be very disadvantaged when it comes to knowing who can help with what. This event aims to bring a lot of organisations into one room to assist our older residents and I am very glad to support it. The event is free and there will be refreshments on offer.”
Members of the public who require transport can contact Three Counties transport on 01440 712028 (pre-book with 2 days notice).
