International flavour for sunny summer fayre
Tuesday, 24th June 2014.
The St Felix Church Summer Fayre on Saturday had an international flavour, enjoyed by many on a warm and sunny day in the church grounds in Princess Way.
The bouncy castle attracted many children while adults tucked into food from many countries such as Malawi, Zambia, Kenya, Zimbabwe and the Phillipines.
Town mayor Cllr Roger Andre attended, accompanied by deputy mayor Cllr Maureen Byrne, who drew the winning tickets in a raffle. The first prize was free accommodation for a week in a furnished apartment in Funchal, Madeira, and there were cash and other prizes.
Proceeds will go to repaying the outstanding loan of £150,000 of the £1m cost of the new church, that opened in 2012.
