High street shop could become a restaurant
Thursday, 14th January 2010.
A planning application to turn a former shop and nursery in Haverhill High Street into a restaurant has been submitted to St Edmundsbury Council.
London architects Dixons, acting as agents for owners HSF Ltd, of Piuperell Way, Haverhill, have applied for the change of use at empty 56 High Street, which was a children's nursery and before that a shop, next to the amusements centre.
The application makes it clear no tenant for the potential restaurant has been found yet, but states that the premises is currently empty and its history shows little demand for its current use, whereas it stands in the 'restaurant quarter' of south-west Haverhill town centre.
There would be no external changes to the building, which is part of a block of three units owned by HSF Ltd, and car parking is provided by the large public car park at the rear.
