High Street police action nets another 33 drivers
Tuesday, 9th October 2012.
Police carried out another day of action in Haverhill High Street yesterday and 33 motorists received fixed penalty tickets.
The action was carried out by two police officers, one special constable and one police community support officer.
It was the third of four days of action promised by Haverhill's police chief, Insp Peter Ferrie, in response to residents demanding at a public meeting that illegal parking and driving in High Street be retained as a police priority.
The officers carried out the enforcement over two periods of around two hours each, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Only eight drivers were ticketed for illegal parking, but 25 were caught for using the road without having valid access.
