Help the Environment and Save Cash
Tuesday, 17th October 2006.
Shoppers in Haverhill will be given the chance to help the environment while saving cash during a special event organised to mark Energy Saving Week.
On Thursday, 26 October, staff from St Edmundsbury will be handing out free low energy light bulbs, stickers and balloons from an exhibition stand in the Market Square. A wealth of information will be available explaining how you can save energy, reduce carbon dioxide emissions and help prevent climate change.
Anyone who visits the stall will also be given the chance to fill in a home energy check form. The Energy Saving Trust will then use the information provided to advise on measures which could help you save up to £300 each year from your fuel bills.
Information will also be available about a Council Tax scheme launched earlier this year, which gives residents the chance to receive a £50 credit if they take up the offer of discounted cavity wall insulation through British Gas.
The stall will run between 9am and 5pm.
Energy Saving Week is a national campaign dedicated to reducing energy use. It takes place between Monday, 23 October and Friday, 27 October.
