Healthcare information day as health centre closure looms
Wednesday, 11th July 2012.
People in and around Haverhill are being invited to attend the first NHS Suffolk health and healthy living event on Friday.
The event takes places at the studio in Haverhill Arts Centre on from 10am–3pm.
Healthcare staff from NHS Suffolk, healthy living provider LiveWell Suffolk, mental health specialists from Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, the West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group, West Suffolk Hospital and out-of-hours provider Harmoni will be on hand to answer questions on all aspects of health and healthcare services, including:
* Advice on dental care and accessing an NHS dentist;
* What you should do if you have a minor injury or illness;
* What sort of help and advice your local pharmacist can give you;
* How to prevent trips and falls;
* Guidance on how to access non-judgemental stop smoking support;
* Effective management of your medicines;
* Tips and advice on healthy eating and the best ways to get enough exercise.
Much of the information may be aimed at answering questions which arise from the closure of the Crown Health Centre in Haverhill by NHS Suffolk just a fortnight later.
Sadie Parker, NHS Suffolk's head of primary care said: "This event is an invaluable opportunity for everyone in Haverhill to find out more about their NHS and how they can make improvements to their health.
"People will have the opportunity to discuss issues affecting them and get some great advice on living longer, healthier lives. Everyone of every age is welcome to attend.”
