The Befriending Scheme is a charity with over 20 years’ experience working with adults with learning disability.
They currently provide a one-to-one befriending scheme for over 500 adults with learning disabilities and run seven drop-in centres across Suffolk.
The aim is to offer people that are socially isolated the opportunity to enjoy activities, learn new skills and develop confidence to become more active and included members of society.
They rely on over 200 volunteers to run the project and their aim is to open the service to other vulnerable groups including the elderly and those with mental health needs.
