Haverhill's christening
Thursday, 23rd September 1999.
HAVERHILL Hockey Club christened their new astroturf pitch with a 4-1 home win against Redbridge & Ilford in Division II of the Women's East Super League.
The highlight of the match was a first-half hat-trick from Mandy Williamson.
The forward opened her scoring with a tap-in after 15 minutes, doubled her tally shortly afterwards following good work from Anne Jarvis, then completed her hat-trick from a subsequent short corner.
Ward added a forth before the interval to complete the scoring and, although Redbridge pulled one back, the result was never in doubt.
Haverhill, who played all of their home games at Sudbury before the astroturf was built, are now looking to strengthen their squad and anyone interested should call Tina Bunch on (01440) 761433.
