Haverhill's bite of council tax to rise 3p a week
Thursday, 6th December 2001.
Haverhill Town Council is doubling its increase in precept for next year, but it will still cost most people less than 3p a week more.
Town councillors set a precept, their part of the council tax bill, and agreed the small increase was needed.
Most properties in the town are band B and will pay £13.87 a year towards town council activities.
The town council is also to negotiate with St Mary’s Church to see whether its toilets could be opened on a supervised basis when Haverhill Town Council holds activities on the Market Square.
So far the Parochial Church Council has turned down requests for the toilets to be used, except by market traders, because the fittings are only of domestic quality and not designed for public use.
