Thursday, 7th October 1999.
HAVERHILL rugby club hit the jackpot for the second week running following up a 70-0 victory over March in their opening Eastern Counties Division 4 North game with a 76-15 win at Mistley.
But it took them a time to get going. They led only 22-15 at half time before making a string of substitutions, then clicking into gear to race to the top of the table.
Peter Young led the way with a hat-trick of tries and the others came from Paul Marper (2), debutante hooker Kelvin Butler (2), Mark Jury, Freddie Green, Paul Donovan and Terry Pinkney. Steve Power kicked nine conversions and a penalty.
