Haverhill Man Raped
Wednesday, 20th November 2002.
A 30 year old man was attacked and raped in Haverhill in the early hours of this morning.
Police cordoned off the top of Jubilee Walk and part of the adjoining car park to allow officers to search the area.
The victim had gone out to get money from a cashpoint machine at around 12.10am and was walking back along Jubilee Walk and the Brook Service Road towards the bus station.
He was grabbed from behind by at least two men and raped. He shouted and eventually managed to push his attackers off before making his way to the police station.
He saw three white men as he went to the cash machine, who were possibly all wearing black caps. One was wearing a tartan scarf.
Det Insp Rick Munns, the investigating officer, appealed to the three men or anyone else who was in that part of the town just after midnight to contact him as a matter of urgency.
“We urgently need to eliminate these men from our inquiries,” he said.
