Haverhill building firm bucking the trend
Friday, 6th November 2009.
Haverhill-based building and maintenance company Anglian All Trades are optimistic in the face of the latest grim predictions for the construction industry.
Economists at the Construction Products Association recently forecast that workloads will not recover from recession until 2011 and it would take a further decade before work levels return to the peak attained in 2007.
Steve Bowak, MD for Anglian All Trades comments: “There is a lot of doom and gloom in the construction industry, which is hardly surprising when you consider that construction output is forecast to fall by a record 15% in 2009!
"Fortunately our business has not mirrored the general market trend and we have kept busy throughout the last 18 months. I think this can be attributed to the variety of work that we actually carry out.
"In the five-a-half years since Anglian All Trades was founded it has established a strong customer base across East Anglia. Working with high profile companies, including ROK Building, a national PLC building company, the British Red Cross and the Crown Prosecution Service, it has developed and implemented stringent quality control standards and sign off procedures. This quality-driven culture is applied to all the work undertaken, regardless of the size of the customer or the job."
Finance director Helen Cornwell said: “We are as happy working for a domestic customer rewiring their property as we are undertaking a complete refit for commercial premises or refitting bathrooms and kitchens for a social housing landlord.
"We recently installed a new patio for the spectator area at the Haverhill Rugby Club. The patio, which is 240 square metres and finished with Rivan buff slabs, has greatly enhanced the Haverhill Rugby Club facilities. The committee is delighted with the results and so are visitors - who can now enjoy a match without getting their shoes dirty!
"Our industry credentials - we are CHAS and Constructionline approved - demonstrate our commitment to offering the highest levels of quality and service.”
While the UK building trade may suffer from the long-lasting effects of the recession it is reassuring to know that local businesses are fighting hard to buck the trend. They are striving to build solid and reputable businesses based on the old fashioned foundations of quality, service and value for money.
