Halls Forges A New Challenge
Friday, 12th March 2004.
Haverhill hot-wheel, Gavin Halls is gearing up for his first season in the 750 Motortclub after making the step up from kart racing for the 2004 season.
Halls used to race for the Haverhill team Karite, but now has a family team called Forge racing.
As a former club champion in karting for Haverhill and having raced in the Formula Ford scholarship in Aintree, Halls is confident of a good debut season, which sees the first race take place at Donnington on March 20.
Racing is in Gavin's blood as both his parents, Colin and Beverly, used to compete, but now help out with the running of the car, as does Gavin's younger brother, Tony.
While grandparents, Ken and Peggy Wells, bought the 1996 Suzuki Swift, which Gavin will race in the Formula Ford category.
Halls said: "I've great support from my family and girlfriend Caroline Wright, and I am thankful for their help and the help of my sponsors. Thuley of Haverhill roof boxes, Sages Outside Catering and Paragon Signs and Labels. I'm looking forward to a new challenge."
