Gritters out ahead of predicted further snow
Thursday, 9th February 2012.
Ahead of predicted snowfall and freezing temperatures this afternoon and evening, Suffolk County Council's gritting teams have been out treating the county's highways from 2pm.
Teams began a countywide staggered operation this afternoon, gritting A and B roads (priority one), followed by bus routes and other main roads (priority two).
Gritters are on standby at the council's road salt depots ready to grit Suffolk's A roads throughout the night if necessary.
Road conditions may be difficult during this period, even on treated roads, so road users are advised to take extreme care.
