Golfers battle through rain to good scores

The Junior Autumn Shield was played at Haverhill Golf Club today. Despite the very wet weather conditions, there were some great scores returned.
Winning the event was Daniel Bentley with an impressive 91-27-64, resulting in a handicap reduction of two shots. In second place was Stephen Boyles with 83-18-65 and in third place Harvey Bavester with 78-9-69.
The first of the winter junior medals at the club was played on Saturday, October 16.
Winning with a great score of 94-28-66 was Hayden Durrant, and as a result he has had his handicap reduced by two shots.
In second place was Liam Merritt 78-10-68, and in third place Lewis Whiting with 78-9-69. Ailsa Patullo played to her handicap with a nett score of 72 for the junior girls.
The first leg of the Ladies Stableford Turkey Trot was played on Wednesday and Saturday, October 20 and 23.
Currently leading the field with 34pts is Lyn Fish. In second place is Jane Herrington with 31pts and in third place Pat Kennedy with 28pts. The final leg will be played in November.
On Sunday, October 24, the Rehab Cup, open to all sections of Haverhill Golf Club, was a closely-fought contest.
Finding his form once again and winning with a fabulous score of 40pts was Darragh Whelan. Also with a return to form in second place on countback was Wayne Penman with 39pts and in third place with 39pts was Frank Gooch.
The leading ladies were Lyn Fish with 31pts, Catie Heathfield with 29pts and Sally Price with 25pts.
