Full programme of holiday activities for children

With the holidays approaching, there is no need to worry about finding something for children to do in Haverhill, as there is a full programme of activities being planned.

From making pizza to water fights there is a huge variety of activities being provided by Haverhill Leisure Centre throughout the summer holiday.

For the under eights there will be activities to celebrate Italian Week including making a pizza, the Kid City’s Got Talent Contest, a London-themed arts and craft session to make Big Ben, London cabs and buses, a close-up experience with animals and much more.

For children aged eight and over the School’s Out holiday camps will be running activities including cycling, swimming, football, tennis, laser blast and basketball.

Other eights and over activities include cycling lessons with British Cycling coach John Stockwell and raft building.

To end the summer holidays, grab your water pistols, and super soakers, for the Ultimate Water Fight at Haverhill Leisure Centre for five to 14-year-olds on Friday, August 31, from 2pm to 4pm. Entry £2.

Also, the Abbeycroft team will be providing activities for the free Haverhill’s Big Day Out on the Recreation Ground on Wednesday next week from 10am to 4pm, at the free Haverhill Rovers Football Club Family Fun Day on Wednesday, August 1, from 11am to 3pm and at the free Haverhill Rugby Club Family Fun Day on Wednesday, August 15, from 11am to 3pm.

A free family fun day will also take place on Jubilee Plaza on Wednesday, August 22, from 11am to 3pm.

Amelia Epton, Abbeycroft’s children and young people programme manager, said: “Whatever the weather we have some great activities planned for our young people at Haverhill Leisure Centre.

“From water fights and animal experiences, to free family fun days and arts and crafts sessions, we have an action-packed programme to keep the kids occupied.”

Under 8s activities are individually priced. Holiday camps cost £5 for a morning or afternoon session. For the whole day (9am to 5pm) it costs £9.99 per child and £48 for the week. It costs £150 per child for the whole six weeks.
