Free seminar for businesses on dealing with tough times
Tuesday, 26th January 2010.
To help rural enterprises cope with some of the challenges of the current tough economic climate, St Edmundsbury is sponsoring a free evening seminar on February 18.
Held at Great Whelnetham village hall, Trading In Difficult Times will include presentations on finance and marketing followed by a question and answer session, where a panel of experts will be on hand to answer questions to help improve businesses. Supper is also included.
The event, which starts at 6pm, is backed by St Edmundsbury and Business Link. Although it is free, booking is essential. Please book through the website www.bookevents.org or ring 0845 601 1000.
The speakers will be Trevor Hawkins, who has more than 30 years’ experience of finance and management, and Dean Wales whose background is public relations.
There will also be an experienced retail advisor, plus several Business Link advisors with different specialisms attending.
Officers from St Edmundsbury Council’s economic development service will also be available to offer advice and discuss the ways in which the council is supporting rural businesses, for example through the Suffolk Rural Economy Scheme.
Cllr Nigel Aitkens, cabinet member for rural economy, said: “Although trading conditions will continue to be difficult for some time, better prepared businesses will take advantage of the economic recovery, as it begins. The expert advice available at this free seminar could be invaluable.”
