Free parking returns to Haverhill town centre - briefly
Wednesday, 2nd November 2011.
Shoppers heading into Haverhill on the four Fridays leading up to Christmas could benefit from free parking.
Between 8am and 11am, on December 2, 9, 16 and 23 there will be no charge for motorists using St Edmundsbury Borough Council’s pay and display spaces.
The council's portfolio holder for Haverhill Cllr Anne Gower said: "While everyone is watching what they spend, we all want to enjoy the festive season and free parking is a big incentive to try shopping closer to home.
"Our shops and market traders appreciate the local support, and free parking also helps folks to save petrol by staying local and getting all the extras we like to buy this time of year.
"I am delighted that we can offer these three hours of free parking in Haverhill every Friday in December leading up to Christmas."
The free parking only applies to the council’s pay and display places, not private car parks.
