Firm snaps into action after school raid
Tuesday, 25th April 2006.
SCHOOLCHILDREN who lost out to burglars have been given a surprise donation.
Place Farm Primary School in Haverhill had digital cameras, laptops and projectors stolen in a raid before Easter - but help has arrived.
Camera firm Kodak was told of the problem by a parent and donated four digital cameras for the children to use.
David Golding, headteacher, said:
"We are very grateful to Kodak for the donation. Some good then has come from the burglary, which saw around £5,000 worth of equipment taken.
"This sort of thing does unfortunately happen at schools from time to time. Fortunately we are covered by insurance but we won't be getting new equipment just yet so the children miss out on using the technology in their lessons."
Pupils use digital cameras to photograph visitors to class, such as a historian who arrived dressed as a Roman soldier. Thieves broke into the school in Camps Road on Tuesday, March 21. The men, who are still at large, are described as white, in their mid-20s, of slim build. One wore a dark tracksuit and another a grey hooded top.
Anyone with information can call police on (01284) 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
