Firemen save two industrial units from blaze
Wednesday, 3rd February 2010.
Haverhill fire crews were called out yesterday to their second large blaze in two days, when they attended a set of industrial units in Brockley Green, Hundon.
One of three converted barns at Hill View Farm in Simms Lane, being used as industrial units, caught alight and firemen had to work hard to save the other two.
The one which was damaged was used for storing janitorial supplies including a large number of toilet rolls and cleaning products.
Another nearby was used for the same purpose but firemen saved it by spraying it with water.
They also protected the third unit which is used for light industrial work and contained acetylene cylinders.
Four fire engines attended, from Clare, Long Melford and two from Haverhill, along with the turntable ladder from Bury St Edmunds and two water bowsers from Sudbury and Newmarket.
Water was also drawn from a neighbouring swimming pool.
