Fire station is latest victim of metal thieves
Tuesday, 27th October 2009.
The high price of scrap metal at the moment is leading to thieves targeting more and more garages, industrial units and buildings that look uninhabited.
Haverhill has suffered a number of burglaries of sheds and garages where metal and tools have been stolen in recent weeks.
The latest was on Saturday around 7.50pm, when thieves broke into a building and two containers in the fire station yard and stole metal and tools.
The fire station is currently being refurbished and fire station personnel and equipment are stationed at a temporary site on the edge of town.
A grey Vauxhall Astra with two men inside was seen in the yard at the time.
Anyone who saw anything that might help police can call Sgt Kevin Went at Haverhill Police on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
