Find out about fire service improvements
Friday, 5th March 2010.
A number of drop-in sessions have been arranged around Suffolk for people to gain further information on fire service improvements.
They are part of a current public consultation which explains the work Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service are intending to start over the next year to improve their services.
Suffolk's chief fire officer Andy Fry said; “We want to make sure that the service we offer is doing all it can to prevent fires, protect the public and respond to emergency situations.
“In this consultation we want to explore how we could make changes to the full-time shift systems we operate, in order to release sufficient resources to improve the availability of fire engines crewed by part time firefighters across the county, and also to improve the training for all of our firefighters, both part time and full time.
“The drop-in sessions we’ve organised around the county will give members of the public the chance to find out more about the proposals we have put forward and also give them the opportunity to ask us questions about the plans.”
There are no sessions in Haverhill, where the fire station is under refurbishment, the nearest ones being at Newmarket fire station on March 25 at 5.30pm, and two at Bury St Edmunds on April 8, at 2pm in the new ARC centre and at 5.30pm at the fire station.
