By James Fuller on Thursday, 14th June 2001.
NAKED men are promised to be on the bill in the first week of this year's Haverhill Festival.
They are part of Skate Naked, who will be performing on the first day of the festival on Saturday, June 16, on the Market Square at 8pm.
Hilarious and cheeky acrobatic stunts are promised by the skaters who have won five international street festival competitions.
Also appearing are The Invisible Men, who will demonstrate the "World's Fastest Illusion" and Le La Les will be creating and involving the public in scenes of comedy and surreal illusion.
On Sunday, June 17, people are invited to come along and twirl their batons with the Sapphire Majorettes at the town's recreation ground.
Along with the numerous troupes competing, there will be stalls, sideshows, bouncy castles, a barbeque and a car boot sale.
Also on Sunday, there's a chance to enjoy a traditional Suffolk pub evening.
Attractions, apart from the drink, include local songs, country ditties, step dancing and a Suffolk comedian.
There will also be performances from the Bumpstead Boys, Jack Tarling and Neil Lanham and friends. The event, priced £3, takes place at the Arts Centre at 7.30pm.
Monday, June 18, sees a festival quiz night to find out who is the weakest link.
Teams of four are required for the free to enter competition. Application forms are available by ringing 01440 761196.
The Red Ladder Theatre Company is putting on a production of Chris O'Connell's Hold Ya, at the Arts Centre on Tuesday, June 19, at 7.30pm.
Suitable for those aged 13 and over, the play centres around clubbing and the drugs culture.
One of Britain's best-known poetry voices, Roger McGough OBE, will be performing his new show, The Way Things Are, on Wednesday night. Tickets are priced at £8.50 for adults and £7.50 concessions.
Further information on any of these events, and the second week's events can be obtained by calling 01440 714140.
