Fears over Road Safety
Tuesday, 8th April 2003.
A HAVERHILL woman says traffic problems near her home are "diabolical" and someone could be killed unless some-thing is done.
Christine Kitteridge, 47, of Overchurch Close, Haverhill, wrote to MP Richard Spring about the junction of Camps Road and Crowland Road. She was concerned about parked cars causing congestion, particularly when parents collect children from school and on market day.
Miss Kitteridge said traffic had always been a problem in the area, but had got worse since the High Street and Queen Street were closed to traffic during the day.
"You get people racing to get across the mini roundabout first," she said. "I have seen two accidents and they come round so fast it is a wonder there are not more. It would not surprise me if someone gets killed."
Mr Spring said: "I want to look at the conditions described and will obviously take the matter further."
