FA Cup will raise cash for charity at exhibition
By Jo Deeks on Thursday, 29th March 2001.
THE FA CUP will be on view for visitors to a business exhibition taking place at Haverhill Leisure Centre on Saturday.
The fourth bi-annual 'Enterprise at Work' exhibition, organised by Haverhill Enterprise 2000, is a sell-out with more than 40 exhibitors taking part.
Enquiries came from towns as far as 20 miles away but Richard Herbert, a director of Enterprise 2000, said they had to be turned away as it is a Haverhill exhibition.
The exhibition opens on Friday, but on Saturday AXA Insurance, based in Haverhill, will display the FA Cup, which it sponsors. Visitors will be able to have their picture taken with the Cup for £5, with proceeds going to local charity LAMPH, for adults and children with disabilities.
"We are happy to have been able to provide the town with this exciting opportunity," said Val Shipp, site services manager for Axa.
Highlight of the last exhibition was a laser and music show provided by Laser Innovations of Haverhill, a UK leader in the industry. David Hickford, the Managing Director, said they hoped to provide an even better extravaganza this time.
Pure Energy, who run the Haverhill Enterprise 2000 website, will web-cam the exhibition live and the video conferencing link between Samuel Ward Upper School and University College Suffolk will also be demonstrated.
Genzyme will take a stand for the first time to explain a planned £55 million expansion is all about. The Haverhill Car will also be drawing attention to local skills and expertise.
The exhibition opens from 10am-6pm on Friday and from 10am-4.30pm on Saturday. Entry for visitors is free.
