Expert help on hand to help local traders improve
Thursday, 19th April 2012.
The initiative to improve Haverhill town centre, called Destination Haverhill, reaches a new phase next as experts will be offering guidance to help local retailers 'up their game'.
Kent Business School is offering a programme of free training courses to all independent retailers in Haverhill.
The aim is to improve business potential in the current difficult trading environment. Specifically it aims to drive customer footfall and increase sales and profit.
Recognising that many independent retailers in Haverhill have long histories of trading, these master classes will also encourage a supportive environment where retailers can exchange views to collectively improve the customers’ experience in Haverhill and ensure more shoppers shop locally in the future.
Debbie Kemp from Kent Business School will lead the master classes with support from local experts. KBS recommend traders attend all three sessions.
All sessions are aimed at store managers/owners and orgtanisers would welcome up to two other members of their staff per session.
The first class is on Monday, April 30, and is an introductory session to identify the top trading priorities of the leading multiple retailers and applying this to traders' businesses.
It will give an overview on strategic planning, staff management, range planning and stock management.
The next is on Monday, May 14, and will identify how website design and marketing can increase sales by increasing customer awareness of the business and driving more footfall into the business.
It will also cover how to use social media to engage with loyal and new customers.
The third one is on MOnday,May 21, and aims to determine how visual merchandising and store layout can be planned to improve the customers’ shopping experience and increase sales.
It will also cover different approaches to customer service which add value to the product offer and encourage staff to engage with customers.
All sessions are at Haverhill Arts Centre and run from 10am to 12noon.
