Energy-saving Houses Launched in Haverhill
Wednesday, 19th November 2008.
A traditional development of five two-bedroom houses, all with the latest energy-saving technology, south-facing private gardens and allocated parking, has just been launched by an award-winning developer in Haverhill.
The houses are the second part of a scheme by Property Investment Providers (PIP), located on Mount Terrace just off the High Street, and offer buyers a high-specification finish as standard. Prices range from £142,500 to £147,500 so the houses are exempt from Stamp Duty
PIP’s Oliver Harper said: “The difference with these houses is that all the features listed in the brochure are included in the price, so buyers don’t have to budget for extras.”
The features include renewable energy and energy-saving products, which will help to minimise fuel bills, including solar panels providing hot water and innovative insulation to improve the thermal efficiency of the homes. Current research from the Energy Saving Trust suggests that solar thermal systems can provide as much as a third of a home’s hot water requirements.
Located in a Conservation Area, the houses combine traditional design with modern performance, with hand-crafted sash windows, wrought iron gates and locally sourced materials.
“We always use local tradesmen and local suppliers whenever possible,” explained Oliver Harper.
The style of the houses has been designed to match that of the first phase of PIP’s development at this site, a refurbishment of existing retail units and the creation of new apartments within the building. The scheme has already been nominated by St Edmundsbury Borough Council Building Control for the Building Quailty Awards For East Anglia.
PIP won an award from South Bedfordshire Council for the Best development in 2005 for Urban Regeneration Renewal Scheme
