Early days of World Cup pass off without incident
Tuesday, 15th June 2010.
The first days of World Cup matches have so far produced no problems for Haverhill police to deal with at all.
PCSO Les Scott of Haverhill Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) said they had had plenty of patrols out and about during matches but all the reactions had been very positive.
"I am pleased to report their have been no problems of behaviour at all with regard to the World Cup football matches," he said.
Even Saturday's goalkeeping gaffe from Robert Green had not provoked anyone into venting their frustrations in an anti-social manner.
Police attention is particularly focused on licensed premises with big screens showing not only England matches but many of the other games.
Suffolk police vowed before the competitions started that they would show a robust response to any signs of disorderly behaviour centred around matches.
