Early birds get a top view of the town
Thursday, 17th May 2012.
Hardy worshippers at St Mary's Church in Haverhill climbed to the top of the church tower at 7.30am this morning to welcome Ascension Day.
Church members carried out the Haverhill tradition of singing a hymn on the church tower to mark the feast which celebrates the Ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven, 40 days after Easter.
They then returned to ground level to join other worshippers unable to make the climb, for a service, followed by breakfast in the church community area.
