Drunken yobs are to come under the spotlight with the launch of a new campaign by Suffolk Police, this week, as part of the drive to reduce violent crime in the county.
Violent crime, last year increased by just over 19% and has a disproportionate effect on victims but also adds to the fear of crime felt by the community.
The forces Suffolk First scheme, which this new campaign comes under is aimed at making people in Suffolk feel safer as well as ensuring they are safer.
The campaign will last for six months and take in both peroiods of the year where marked increases are seen, the busy summer months, and the festive period over Christmas and New Year.
Suffolk's Assistant Chief Constable, Colin Langham-Fitt, at the launch of the new initative said: "What we are saying is that enough is enough. People have the right to be able to go out and enjoy themselves, whatever the time, without the fear of violence."
