Driver killed in car river plunge
Thursday, 4th October 2001.
A DRIVER died after his car went into a river at Great Bradley, near Haverhill.
David Smith, 18, from Kedington, was driving along the B1061 between Great Bradley and Burrough Green shortly before 9am last Thursday when the accident happened.
Mr Smith was driving a green Ford Fiesta on the Haverhill to Newmarket Road. He was certified dead at the scene.
No other car was involved in the crash, which left Mr Smith’s car split in two.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on (01284) 774100.
* On the same morning, a motorcyclist was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with serious injuries after his vehicle left the road on the outskirts of Haverhill.
The accident, which blocked the road for several hours, happened on the A1017 road, close to the Essex/Suffolk border.
