Customers toast new landlords
Thursday, 20th September 2001.
NEW faces have appeared behind the bar of Haverhill's Drabbett Smock Pub.
Duncan and Alison Edwards have moved from Norwich to take over the pub but they are no strangers to the town as Alison's mother lives in Haverhill.
The Drabbet Smock is the couple's first pub as managers, although they have both worked in the trade for the past four years. They have been married for just a year and have both worked at busy city centre pubs in Norwich.
The couple have taken over from Paul and Kay Amos, who ran the pub since it opened last year.
Mr Edwards said they had received a warm welcome from the regulars. He said: "If possible I am looking to increase trade, but I won't be doing anything to upset people.
"We have a change of menu approaching and a beer festival in October, so we shall just be trying to improve standards.
