Crowland Road one-way scheme - but which way?
Wednesday, 13th April 2011.
Although Crowland Road is likely to be turned into a one-way street, it has not yet been decided which way traffic would flow, Haverhill Town Councillors heard yesterday.
Cllr Phillip French, who is also a Suffolk county councillor, told fellow members of Haverhill Town Council planning committee there was a proposal in the pipeline to make the street one way, but no firm plans about which way.
Members were discussing access and parking for a proposed development at the junction of Crowland Road with Downs Crescent.
Mr and Mrs mayes have applied to St Edmundsbury Borough Council for permission to demolish the bungalow on the corner piece of land at the junction and build six homes on the site.
There would be two four-bedroom houses and four flats, two one-bedroom and two two-bedroom.
A similar plan in 2009 for eight homes with an access from mStephe3n Close was withdrawn after consultation with the planners and the new one, with access of Downs Crescent, put in place of it.
The applicant for another development in Crowland Road, a four-storey building incorporating four flats at Lynn Crest, approved in 2008, has applied for an extension of its time limit for another three years.
Members decided not to object but to raise concerns about there only being seven parking spaces, in their comments to the borough council.
