Council Tax Bills Due to Rise in Haverhill

Council Tax bills in Haverhill will have to be increased...
The news comes after St Edmundsbury Borough Council reduced its level of grant funding to Haverhill Town Council by more than had been expected.
Despite an agreement which has still one year to run from when the town council took over the management of the Arts Centre, the borough council is imposing a five per cent year on year reduction in grant funding which will mean the loss of £30,000.
Members of the town council finance committee were told at a recent meeting that officers had negotiated down from an original proposal of a ten per cent reduction by the borough council and felt they had little choice but to increase Council Tax in the coming years.
