Council prepared for snow
By Gordon Mussett, Town Clerk on Thursday, 28th December 2000.
Haverhill Town Council's investment in two new grit bins has proved to be a wise investment. Sited at the junction of Queensway and North Avenue, and at the junction of Recreation Road and Mill Hill, the bins contain a supply of grit that residents can spread on slippery roads and footpaths.
Residents who spread the grit to aid their, and others journey in icy conditions, can do so safe in the knowledge that the Suffolk County Council will indemnify them for any claims arising from selective gritting.
Other heaps of grit are sited at key points around the town, and can be similarly used by residents to grit roads and paths.
