Council bosses hold road talks
By Jo Deeks on Thursday, 30th September 1999.
FURTHER measures are being considered to improve road safety on the A143 between Haverhill and Bury St Edmunds.
Mike Brundle, leader of St Edmundsbury Borough Council, and Maggie Lee, chairmen of Suffolk County Council's caring and protection panel, met with officers from both councils to discuss the road.
Reduced speed limits have already been introduced with improvements to junctions along the route to be introduced shortly and further safety measures also being considered.
Coun Brundle said: "This is a major route between Haverhill and Bury St Edmunds and its safety record is one of great concern for me. We are making some headway in solving the problems and officers will be meeting again to see what further measures can be taken.
