Corn Exchange project launches a way you can help
Tuesday, 16th September 2014.
The initiative to return the old Corn Exchange in Withersfield Road to use has launched a way for local people to donate to the project.
Early this month a charity revealed plans to take over the empty and dilapidated Victorian building.
Pixelated Projects, a charity focused on educating people digitally, hopes to turn it into a facility for the whole community.
It will cost £200,000 to buy the building – but, including equipment, it is expected that the whole project will cost £1.5million.
Leigh Brown, founder and CEO of Pixelated Projects, said he needed the public’s support for the project to progress.
Its success would be largely dependent on fundraising, he added, and the backing of the local community.
This week Pixelated Projects officially launched a way for people to donate to save the Corn Exchange while shopping on Amazon.
Mr Brown said: "We've been beta testing this service for a few weeks now, and it has been working really well.
"I'm hoping it can become a staple income
towards the Corn Exchange fund as more people start using it."
